Anxiety disorder is defined by the National Cancer Institute as “a condition in which a person has excessive worry and feelings of fear, dread, and uneasiness.” Personally, I’ve struggled with moderate to severe anxiety for most of my life, nearly a decade at this point. This has made my experiences online quite challenging.
People can be harsh online, and it’s often expected that one should handle a bit of criticism. I’ve been working hard to cope with my anxieties when it comes to being online. One major way I manage my fears is by limiting the sites I visit. Even in my personal life, I avoid social media, partly because I lack interest, but also because the internet can be a dangerous place.
From mean comments to cyber scams, the internet can be daunting. But it’s not all bad. I enjoy watching YouTube videos, reading webcomics, and, of course, writing. Deciding to share my stories online has been a significant hurdle for me. My anxiety has been a major factor in this, but I’m still excited to share my creations with others.
I know I will face criticism, and people can be mean, but I won’t let that stop me from sharing my projects with the world. I’m genuinely excited to see what others think of my stories, whether the feedback is good or bad.
