A mysterious creature speaks to you in your dreams and tells you that when you awake, you will have the ability to see into another realm.
The Dream
My eyes shoot open and my heart pounds in my chest, threatening its escape from my rib cage. The dream is so vivid, so real that part of me feels what it says could really be true.
I stand from the chair where I had fallen asleep and slowly limp to the bathroom. I splash water on my face, washing away the last traces of sleep from my eyes. I stare at myself in the mirror, when something in my left eye causes concern to bubble in my chest.
I look closer, forcing apart my lids with my fingers. A swirling mass of vibrant colors and shimmering stars grows larger and larger, enveloping my iris. I fall backward onto the hard tile in shock and fear.
A shadow approaches my peripheral, “Can you see me?” a familiar and gargled voice asks.
