What makes you believe (or disbelieve) in God?
Faith and Understanding
I was raised as a Southern Baptist and grew up in First Baptist churches. I know the stigma that surrounds people of religion, and I understand that people are allowed to have their own opinions of me based solely on that first sentence. There isn’t a lot of time for me to go too deeply into everything that I would want to say about my faith and my religion, but I hope you, too, can understand and get to know me more through my writing instead of this one fact.
The prompt asks what makes me believe in God and I have thought a lot about this since I was young. I grew up in a very open-minded household and was allowed to form my own opinions and thoughts. I don’t believe in God because I was told to, I believe in God because I look at the world and the beauty that surrounds me and can’t help but wonder where it all started.
We all know that Jesus was a real person, and based on the miracles he performed alone through God are enough to turn plenty of people into faith, but this isn’t all.
I have a hard time understanding why people aren’t more open to the idea of God and science coexisting. God is all-knowing, all-doing and gave his creation the ability to think for themselves, to learn, to create. Science does not disprove the existence of God, and religion does not contradict scientific discoveries.
I could ramble about this for a while, but I’ve gone overtime at this point. I don’t think I really answered the question either but the prompt did spark this train of thought for me.
Again, I will happily say that I am a woman of God. I believe that there is life after death and that God created the world around us. I also hope that you take this, and be open-minded, and understanding to someone who isn’t ashamed of their religion.
There are bad people in every group, but that doesn’t mean I am a bad person. I hope you still enjoy the things I write and come back to read more when I have more to show you. ♡
