Your pet begins speaking in a human voice one morning.
Faucet Water
When I woke up this morning, the last thing I thought I’d hear would be the gravely, aged voice of my orange female tabby cat asking for her morning round of sink water.
It surprised me, to say the least. I’ve had her for years. What made her speak to me now? Or am I stuck in a dream from the new sleep medication I’ve just started taking? I don’t know what the right answer is, but I swing myself out of bed and head into the bathroom with her on my tail.
I turn the faucet on to just a dribble and she hops on the counter to drink her fill.
“Why do you like drinking from the sink so much?” I ask, my mind torn between wanting an answer and hoping she won’t.
“It’s just different.” She replies, her loud purring echoing from her chest.
